oberongeiger3:39pm: Tremors 4 news a-go-go!
Everybody still alive? I just thought I'd let you know that the fourth Tremors film, the prequel, is going to out on DVD this December and has taken up the title Tremors: Original Showdown. You can now check out the movie's new official site, too! A recent review from an early screening was posted at Creature Corner and the reviewer said that he didn't like 2 and 3 (for shame!) but he felt this was the best in the series since the original and was quite good.

Plot summary: The basic plot is that the small town of "Rejection," Nevada (before it was renamed) suffers a tremendous loss when 17 men are killed in the mines. Nearly everyone ditches town except for a handful of colorful locals, who include the Indian Big Horse Johnson, the deadly gunslinger Black Hand Kelly, and the drunken saloon owner Fu Yien Chang (relative of Walter and Jodi), who have to band together for survival with the rich, spoiled mine owner Hiram Gummer (Michael Gross), who comes into town to see why his mine has been shut down.

Also? We will see baby graboids. Awwww. Cool.

It's all graboids this time around... no shriekers or ass-blasters in this one. And no CGI either.

I have to admit... that sounds very clever. Awesome.

Director of Tremors 4 (and Tremors 2) and co-creator of the franchise, S.S. Wilson, has done a great interview that you can check out here. There's a ton of information about Tremors 4, it's extremely informative. Apparently the focus this time out is going to be graboids, graboids, graboids...

oberongeiger9:07am: Cancellation and Tremors 4
Unfortunately, it's now official. Stampede Entertainment has revealed on their web site that Tremors: The Series has been cancelled by Sci-Fi. No season two. Very much a shame.

However, Tremors 4 is coming together well, it would seem. They do mention that Universal is very happy with it, and a release date is set near Christmas right now.

In other news... I missed "Water Hazard," the episode of Tremors that aired the Friday before last. Does anyone have a copy? I could reimburse you.

oberongeiger12:31pm: The season/series finale is tonight
Tonight is the final episode of Tremors: The Series. Okay, so it hasn't been cancelled yet, but it's pretty much inevitable.

In truth Sci-Fi fashion, it's actually the second episode of the series. Burt is sent out on his first "assignment," to a town overrun by Shriekers. The word is that it's a good entry.

The last three weeks without Burt have been rough (and I missed last week's episode, unfortunately) so this should be a relief.

Anyway, since it's the very last episode, I urge you guys to watch it. The show hasn't been canned officially yet. I figure it's worth giving a shot at a rescue.

oberongeiger8:25am: Three down, four to go
Sad to think that in four weeks' time, Tremors: The Series will most likely be over forever. As for the last three weeks, however...

"A Little Paranoia Among Friends" - Hilarious in every regard. Armin Shimmerman is always a joy to watch, and seeing him here, and watching Burt flip out as he's accused of being a government spy... this whole thing was great. What made it even better was the amount of heart in it, the discussions involving Heather and how Burt can relate to the Shimmerman character because he has to come to that moment when he realizes his wife will not return. Beautiful entry.

"Project 4-12" - Easily the best of the Christopher Lloyd episodes for me, it was great to see Cletus get some character development. The scene with El Blanco came out of nowhere, and Burt with a flamethrower? Completely rocked. The story was great, the monster was great, the fact that we spent so much time on getting to know the characters better was great, Burt's reactions to Cletus' tales of the underground lab and the government conspiracy (and especially the moment when he realizes it's all true) were great... all told, great episode.

"Graboid Rights" - A really strong mystery piece that's overshadowed by the new actress and characterization of Mindy. The actress is fine, but the new Mindy is, well, let's face it, she's a bitch. She treats Nancy like total crap and is causing a media scandal to dominate the town in which she once lived. No, she's not responsible for the destruction of Burt's property or anything, but the things that she is still partly responsible for are damn bad enough. Very, very disappointed that they took this character turn with Mindy, but at least Burt and Nancy had some great scenes together, really showing their interpersonal conflict beautifully once more. Also, it was very nice to finally stop seeing Tyler dominate so much of the story on the show every week.

Just thought I'd stop by and offer some thoughts.

oberongeiger9:12am: Tremors 4 bits
Stampede Entertainment's latest newsletter says that Universal has delayed the release of Tremors 4 on DVD and VHS until this December. In addition, they announced that, due to fan desires, there will not be any CGI graboids in this one. People were less than impressed with the CGI El Blanco in Tremors 3.

Also, a recent interview with a cast member from the movie is now online here. It's just a small part, but he does reveal that the movie includes a scene where some miners are killed when a cave-in is caused by rampaging graboids.

oberongeiger2:34am: Tremors returns on 6/20
Everybody out there? Still alive? News is slow lately with the show on hiatus, but here's a little update for you all.

Tremors is back in two weeks, once again airing twice every Friday. The first episode scheduled is "A Little Paranoia Among Friends."

The prequel film Tremors 4 is targeting a release on DVD and video this October. Michael Gross said in a recent chat at the Sci-Fi Channel that Universal was even considering removing the "4" and putting it in theaters, given the great sales of the last two, but with the TV show not performing that well so far, I'm not holding my breath for that. If you haven't seen the set photos of the town of "Rejection, Nevada" (as it was then named) in the 1800s, check them out here. Personally, I'm anxious to hear more about Michael's character in the prequel, Burt's ancestor Hiram.

Anyway, that's all the news that's fit to print for now.

Hi, I'm new here. I just want to say... I LOVE TREMORS! I've seen all the movies! I only seen one episode of the series but honestly, I don't like it. They are dragging the movie out too much.
As weird as it may sound but I love Tremors III the best! Though they used CGI during 90% of the movie, the whole concept was freakin’ awesome.
